My Individual practise -
For my Individual Practise I will be carrying on from what I wrote my Individual Study essay on, which was Portraiture.
Within my theme of Portraiture, I will be trying to do at least 4 different types of portrait shoots. I will be doing this to get a wider range of images to choose from at the end.
Different Shoots -
Shoot 1 - For my first shoot I think I took a more Fine Art route. For this I photographed a set of people each stood in front of the same background, but instead of just photographing the person I wanted to get across some sort of emotion, so to do this I photographed each person twice holding a chalkboard in front of them, the first time with something written on the board that they liked about themselves and then the second time, they wrote something on the board that they didn't like about themselves and wanted to change. Later to make all the images look like one set of work, I edited them all the same, and I did this by changing them into black and white and also making them have more contrast. Here below are just some the unedited pictures to show what I wanted.
Now here Below are the final edited images. I decided to edited them to black and white because i thought it would be more fitting with the effect of emotion that I wanted to show through the images. Here are the final images.
While taking these images I used my standard on camera lens - 18-55mm. The setting I used were Aperture - 7.1, Shutter Speed - 1/80, White Balance - Daylight and ISO - 200.
Shoot 2 - For my second shoot I wanted to try and make some Environmental Portrait images. To do this I got in touch with a local high school to see if I could go in and photograph some of the willing teachers within their own environment, i.e their classrooms. For these images I wanted to have the teachers stood within their own classroom or stood in front of some work that was relevant to their subject, this was so you could see straight away what they taught. Some of the different teachers I that I photographed were, P.E, Maths, English, Art, Languages, Music. Here below are just a few images that aren't edited.
For these Environmental portrait shots, I wanted them to link in with past portrait images I have done, but I also wanted to get across a certain feel to the images, and I could only do this by having them in black and white. So here below are my final Black and White Environmental Portrait images.
To take these images I used my standard lens, 18-55mm lens, this was so I could fit all the subject and their environment in the shot. Also for these images I used an on camera Flash Gun, just so I could have some extra lighting in the dark classrooms. The setting that I used were Aperture - 1.8, Shutter Speed - 1/200, White Balance - Flash and ISO - 200.
Shoot 3 - My third photo shoot I took a more studio based route. For this shoot I photographed a family of 3 here at uni within the studio. I did this shoot because I wanted a different side to portrait images. The studio shoot that I did was just photographing a family doing natural, fun poses, these images also just had a white background, this so it was clear to see they were taken within a studio.
Now here below are my edited and final images. Again these final images are black and white, this is so they link with the other shoots I have done, I think they give a more family feel and lastly the family I did them for wanted them in black and white.
The setting that I used to take these images were the same for every image, this is because I was taking them within the studio, using studio lighting. The settings that I used were Aperture - 11, Shutter Speed - 1/125, White Balance - Flash, and ISO - 100. The lighting that I used to light these images, were three 500 lights, 1 pointing into each of the back corners in the room, this to light up the back and then one more 500 light on the boom in the centre of the room to light up the rest of the room. Also with these image I used my 50mm lens.
Shoot 4 - For a fourth photo shoot I took a more personal route in taking portrait images of people that belong to the same religion as me. I belong to The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (the Mormon church). I wanted to photograph people from within my own religion because when people come into contact with Mormons they usually says we have some sort of light or glow and always seem happy and up beat - theres something different about us. So I wanted to take portrait images of Mormons to see if I could create good interesting portraits and try and see if I could capture that "Light" that people talk about.
Whilst taking these images I just photographed the people stood in front of a plain wall, so there was no distraction from the person.
Here below are some of the un edited images that I took.

20/20 Presentation -
Within one our last session at uni, we each had to present our final work to the rest of the class, and so to do this we had to create a 20/20 presentation.
Within my 20/20 presentation I added first 10 of my Environmental Portraits, then I added 10 of my Studio Family Portraits. This was to show the differences between the 2 types.
Here below is my 20/20 presentation.

Now again here below are the ones I went on to edit and make my final images. Even though I made some of these images my final images, I only did to show how I would edit them and to see if they looked any good. Though I wont be using any of these images to be handed in for marking.

The settings that I used to take these images varied a bit because some I used a on camera Flash Gun and others I just used natural lighting that was available to me. For the Images that I used on Camera Flash Gun, the setting I used were - Aperture - 5, Shutter Speed - 1/200, ISO- 200 and White Balance - Flash.
The images that I didn't use the Flash, I just used my fix 50mm lens. The settings for these images were Aperture - 1.8, Shutter Speed - 1/125, ISO - 400.
Now that I have done my different photo shoots, trying to get a wider range of portrait images, I have just narrowed it down to 2 different shoots that I did to use as my end final images, that I will be handing in to be marked.
The two different shoots that I have chosen to use and show are my Environmental Portraits and my Studio Family Portraits. I have chosen these two because I wanted to show a clear contrast between the same type of images you can get from one area of photography which is Portraiture. I also chose these two shoots to show because these are the images which I feel I got the best outcome to represent portraits. And lastly I am using these as my final shots because I feel these two different areas within Portraiture which I have picked I will be able to carry on with and continue to photograph, to progress my work.

Final Outcome for Individual Practise -
For my final come for this module we asked to present our work in a different way to than we usually present our work. So for this module rather than handing in our work in folders or boxes, we decided to present our images in book form. So to do this I have used a site called PhotoBox.co.uk. This is a site where you can transfer your images and make them into a book for printing.
Here below are 2 screen shots, first to show what the website that I have used looks like and then second just to show a small preview of what my book will look like.
